BANGKOK – Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn attended the cremation of the Leicester city owner and duty-free magnate, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. Also, Leicester city staff members and players were also appeared to pay their last respects to their beloved owner who took the football club to new heights. The Thai owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha died in October last year after watching the football match at King Power Stadium between his team, Leicester City and Westham in October.
Vichai’s body was laid to rest in October for a period of 100 days according to the Buddhist tradition. His body was cremated on Thursday at a ceremony which was attended by the Thai king. Among Leicester City’s staff and players, Manager Brendan Rodgers, all the players not on international duty, including captain Wes Morgan and striker Jamie Vardy also appeared to attend the ceremony in Bangkok. People came to pay their last respects to the Thai businessman carrying a funeral umbrella (ร่มงานศพ) in their hand.
The sudden death of Thai owner left the Leicester city team in shock. All the players of the football club and staff members attended the week-long Thai funeral of Thai magnate in November which had royal sponsorship for a period of three days. Again, the players also came on Thursday to pay the last respects to Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha in Bangkok where King Maha Vajiralongkorn carried out the cremation rites at Wat Thepsirin, a Buddhist temple in Bangkok. The king was standing on a podium and lit the fire for Vichai’s crematorium.
