Inpatient Medical Detox

At FHE Health (formerly Florida House Experience), a licensed Florida detox center, we offer our patients medically supervised drug and alcohol detox treatment programs. Our South Florida inpatient residential detox clinic is designed to help addicts begin their addiction treatment while supporting them through the potential struggles of substance abuse withdrawal symptoms.

While going through their detox process, all of our patients are under the care of addiction medicine doctors, registered nurses and licensed therapists who provide around-the-clock supervision and support. And because every patient is unique, our detox services are customized based on a comprehensive intake and medical assessment process.

Our on-site medical detoxification program protocols make detoxing as safe, comfortable and effective as possible.

We specialize in:

And because we know that many people who struggle with substance abuse also have mental health issues, our medical detox center is staffed by professionals who understand the unique challenges faced by people who live with anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Can You Detox at Home?

Contrary to what some people might think, detoxing from prescription drugs, street drugs, alcohol or a combination of substances takes more than willpower — it triggers complex, and potentially dangerous, changes throughout your body.

How you feel and the potential symptoms you experience during detox depends on what drugs you’ve been using, how frequently you use and how long you’ve been addicted. Your overall health and wellness, age and medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular issues, depression, and anxiety can also impact your experience in detox.

Detoxing alone puts you at serious risk of suffering from a variety of life-threatening medical conditions, including cardiac arrest, suicidal behaviors, psychosis, severe dehydration, and seizures.

Trying to go cold turkey by yourself is rarely successful, and frequent failed attempts at detox can sabotage your plans to get sober and stay that way.

What Should You Expect During Detox?

Our Florida detox facility provides an upscale atmosphere where patients can begin their healing process in a comfortable, discreet and stress-free environment. When you first begin the detox process, our team of detox experts develops an individual treatment plan. This plan addresses any concerns you have about potential symptoms you might experience while in detox, and we also let you know how long your drug detox should take.

Amenities at our medical detox center include comfortable lounge areas, flat screen TVs and digital cable in each hotel-style patient room and on-site smoking areas. While you’re completing your detox process, you’ll be provided with nutritious gourmet meals and snacks that are specially designed to help heal your body while you’re dealing with withdrawal symptoms.

How Do Medical Professionals Help at a Medical Detox Center?

During the first hours and days of your detox process, our medical staff closely monitors your physical and mental health. We do this by performing frequent checks of your vital signs (temperature, heart rate, and oxygen saturation rates), observing you and providing ongoing psychological support. If you and your treatment team decide medical detoxification is right for you, you’ll be administered very specific doses of prescription medications to help you safely taper off your drug dependence.

FHE Health drug and alcohol detox facility is nationally accredited, and all of our staff members have extensive training and recognized credentials in addiction medicine. Our doors never close, and we have 24-hour medical professionals on-site at all times. We are ready at any moment to assist our patients with anything they need to start their recovery comfortably and successfully.

What Withdrawal Symptoms Can I Expect During the Detox Process?

The symptoms of drug and alcohol addiction withdrawal can range from mild to severe depending on a number of factors, including the substance that was being abused, the duration of the addiction and any underlying medical conditions.

Our goal at FHE Health is to make your substance abuse treatment as comfortable and safe as possible so you continue making steps toward your addiction recovery and aren’t as likely to return to substance abuse.

Some of the most common symptoms addicts experience during the detox process are:

  • Drug and alcohol cravings
  • Nausea and diarrhea
  • Excessive sweating, headaches, itchiness and nerve pain
  • Difficulty either getting to sleep or sleeping for extended periods of time
  • Trouble with memory and focus
  • Delirium Tremens (shaking, hallucinating, confusion)
  • Feelings of panic, anxiety, depression and/or anger
  • Irritability, mood swings, and hypersensitivity to light, sounds and/or odors
  • Seizures

The most severe detox symptoms tend to occur anywhere from 4 to 24 hours after last using and can last for hours, days or even weeks. Some patients also experience a recurrence of their detox symptoms after they have been clean and moved on to rehab. That’s why it’s important to continue your recovery immediately after you’ve been discharged from our medical detox center.
