The Demand for CBD Products is Growing Exponentially in Europe

CBD or cannabidiol is a confusing topic for many as people don’t know much about it. Whenever CBD pops up, people fear whether the use of it may be legal or illegal.

However, in the past few years, the use of CBD has been legalized in many countries. There have been CBD oils, tablets, and many more products. The advantages of CBD are many, as it is used as a pain killer, anti-depressant, and chronic pain reliever.

North America has the biggest market of CBD; there are many consumers there. However, the latest UK cbd news is that Europe is witnessing a steady increase in the CBD market. Many countries have been legalizing CBD.

The catch is that the CBD extracted from industrial hemp must be containing less than 0.2% THC. THC is the intoxicating compound also found in cannabis.

Most of the CBD products comply with the rules and have safe levels of THC that does not cause intoxication. In 2019, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) designated CBD products as a novel food. That means that companies must seek permission from EFSA before rolling out CBD products.

But the progress that was made last year has reached a dead end, as the EFSA has backtracked. It wants to re-think its decision on whether to tag CBD products as novel food or narcotics.

The UK, Germany, Austria, and Greece are the countries that lead the CBD trade in Europe. However, most of the European countries have made it illegal to import, buy, or possess CBD. But few countries have legalized CBD products that either comply with the Novel Foods Act or can be obtained from a licensed medical practitioner.
