Wearing Surgical Masks may not Prevent Spread of Coronavirus

Coronavirus may have a low lethality rate as compared to other pandemics like Ebola and SSRS, but it is still killing people. That’s why it is crucial to be educated about the disease. After the onslaught of the disease throughout the world, everyone wants to get a surgical mask to protect themselves from the virus.

The truth is a surgical mask will only keep the virus away from the infected person. But it won’t prevent you from contracting the disease. Coronavirus spreads from person to person.

If one comes in close contact with someone, then there are more chances of contracting the disease. Sharing hygiene products, using door knobs, etc. also fastens the spread. So in this case, surgical masks aren’t so effective. But the N95 respirators can do a better job of blocking the virus from entering the body.

There is still no diagnosis for the disease. However, there are ways to treat the symptoms. Coronavirus doctors and health persons are advising people to take precautions about hygiene. Washing the hands at short intervals for 20-40 seconds with proper rinsing, not touching the face and nose, using toilet paper, using sanitizer, and avoiding public places are few steps one must take to prevent spreading the disease.

The lethality rate of the coronavirus is less, but it spreads fast. That’s why most of the countries are under lockdown. Due to the myth that surgical masks can prevent the spread of the virus, there has been a mass buying of masks.

That’s why the supply of masks has dwindled. So the celebrity fashion designers like CS Siriano have offered assistance and created surgical masks for people, hoping it would help those in need of it.
